Round 2 of the Greater Cities Sport Facility Fund and the Regional Sport Facility Fund is now open (opened 30 August). This is the second and final round of this grant.

In Round 2, up to $46 million is available for grants between $100,000 and $1 million for new and upgraded sports facilities. Inclusive projects that encourage the participation of women and girls and people with a disability, such as new or upgraded unisex change rooms or the provision of disability access, are a priority of the Fund.

Key Information:

For projects costing more than $1 million, a 25 percent financial co-contribution of the grant amount requested will be required. For all other projects, a financial co-contribution will be considered favourably.

A financial contribution as stated in the guidelines will be looked upon favourably. With the expectation that the fund will be oversubscribed having financial co-contribution (via council or club/association funds) will no doubt be of great benefit and may separate a project from another.

Projects must meet the 3 key project objectives:

increase the number and type of sporting facilities
improve the standard of existing sporting facilities
increase participation in sport

Projects MUST have DA approval when applying. If no DA approval is required, then a letter stating this from Council is required.

Please contact me for a letter of support or for some supporting data. If your local council is the applicant, please advise them to contact me directly for a letter of support.

In addition, please see link to some generic feedback that the Office of Sport has provided to applicants from Round 1. There is some valuable information that all applicants should be aware of.

If there are any questions or queries please don’t hesitate to contact the Facilities and Advocacy Unit.
